USN-RSN-Exercise-Together-in-Guam

The US Navy (USN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) are participating in the third edition of Ex Pacific Griffin 2021 in the waters near Guam.

The two-week long advanced maritime training exercise concludes on July 7 and is considered the most complex and warfare-centric bilateral engagement between both navies.

Both navies are undertaking maritime special operations and maritime counter-terrorism training, anti-air defence exercises, anti-submarine warfare operations, and replenishments at sea serials.

"This exercise demonstrates the trust and expertise we have built over the years with the Singaporean Navy through increasingly complex and integrated training and live fire events,” said USN Capt. Chase Sargeant, commander, Task Force 71.

Task Force 71, the USN’s largest forward-deployed Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) and the 7th Fleet’s principal surface force is participating in the exercises with the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), a fast-attack submarine, a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol reconnaissance aircraft, Coastal Riverine Group, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachments.

The RSN is operating two  Formidable-class frigates RSS Tenacious, RSS Stalwart, Independence-class Littoral Mission Vessel RSS Fearless, training ship MV Avatar and naval divers. Republic of Singapore Air Force fighter aircraft from its detachment in Guam are also participating.
