RAAF-Wedgetail

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has completed another E-7A Wedgetail operational conversion course for No. 2 Squadron. Eight air battle managers, two Electronic Support Measures (ESM) operators and three co-pilots were operationally converted onto the E-7A.

As part of the final phase of the course, co-pilots and aircrew operating out of RAAF Base Darwin, took part in Exercise Rogue Ambush, which also featured participation from the first RAAF F-35A operational conversion course.

“Operating under the complexity of military flying operations with multiple platforms is the most challenging part of operational conversion for the students,” said Air Battle Manager Instructor Flight Lieutenant Brodie Jones.

No. 2 Squadron aircrew were exposed to complex battlespace environments, which closely replicated real-life operational missions involving multiple platforms and packages.
