Epic Games is streaming its real-time interactive simulation environment, Project Anywhere, to Microsoft HoloLens 2, bringing richer interaction and immersion of extended reality (XR) experiences to its latest platform: Project Anywhere XR.

The application features an interface developed using Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Toolkit (MRTK) for Unreal that enables users to select their region of interest, teleport anywhere, and freely navigate from space-eye view down to detailed terrain and buildings. As they navigate, the appropriate level of detail is automatically streamed, from Bing map data to OpenStreetMap (OSM) Buildings to photogrammetry data sets. All of these are supplied by the Cesium for Unreal plugin, without manual creation or preprocessing.

Epic Games is presenting Project Anywhere XR live at this year's GEOINT Symposium, 5-8 October 2021 in St Louis, Missouri. The company is also making it available to download for free as a sample project, for users to explore, learn and adapt to their requirements.
