Mick Golson, president for Engineering & Computer Simulations (ECS), has promoted Shane Taber to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Taber has been with ECS since 2005 and has been instrumental in developing training products and research prototypes, including simulations, online virtual worlds, serious games, mixed reality (MR), augmented reality (AR), and haptic interfaces. He has 18 years of experience in the development, testing, and evaluation of innovative emerging technologies for use in military training and education.

Golson states: “Shane is respected in the simulation and training industry for his forward-thinking approach of integrating technology to enhance training solutions. This innovative methodology will continue to advance the way we train our next generation of military, frontline workers, and workforce. As we enter our 25th year in business, we’re excited about what this will mean for our clients as we are all challenged to heighten the accessibility and effectiveness of training.”

Involved in the design and development of the original Tactical Combat Casualty Care Simulation (TC3Sim) prototype in 2005, Taber has served as the firm’s Program Manager for the suite of TC3Sim products in addition to supporting a wide array of key government and commercial customers. Recently as Vice President of Operations, Orlando, he led the software development division and oversaw all development tasks, provided direction throughout the product lifecycle, and was involved with the final integration and delivery of custom training solutions. Taber has a production background in 3D visualization, video production, digital media, and fine art. Prior to joining ECS, he worked for the Institute for Simulation & Training Media Convergence Lab developing numerous academic, military, and edutainment research projects utilizing emerging media technologies.

Taber adds: “In all my time at ECS, we have always leaned forward into new trends, as an early adopter of emerging technology, striving to use innovation to enhance training outcomes.  I feel like this new role will not only allow me to focus on my passion for cutting-edge technology, but also to shape the vision of where we are headed as a company and what we can do for our clients.”

Taber holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in digital media and interactive entertainment from the University of Central Florida. He is a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Certified CMMI Associate.
