Airways Aviation has installed and operated the first of a number of new Alsim AL42 - FNPT II (Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer) simulators at its aviation academy in Montpellier, France, to coincide with the arrival of the first cohort of the German Air Force cadets under the recent Airways Aviation and CAE Security & Defence partnership.

Airways Aviation provides the initial flight training to the German Air Force under a long-term contract signed with CAE GmbH. Training will be conducted between the Airways Aviation, Montpellier facilities in France and a new Bremen airport facility in Germany and will include academic, simulator and practical flying to Luftwaffe cadets.

The new AL42 simulator will also be utilized under a new Airways Aviation and CAE Civil contract to train CAE students at their Multi Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) phase of their ATPL training.

The AL42 is the exact replica of the DA 42 aircraft and has been added to the existing Airways Aviation line-up of five other SIMs currently operating under the French ATO. Airways Aviation owns and operates the largest fleet of Diamond Aircraft in Europe and the largest privately owned Diamond fleet in the world.

Nicolas Fabries, Alsim’s Sales Account Manager, commented: "Being the owner of the largest Diamond fleet in Europe, Airways Aviation needed a Diamond simulator with the highest level of fidelity possible. Following a thorough market research, the AL42 came up as the best choice for Airways Aviation to meet their fast-growing training needs, and we want to thank them for their renewed confidence towards Alsim.”
