Airways Aviation - ESMA and industry partners CAE Defense and Security welcomed the arrival of the first Luftwaffe A400M aircraft, carrying senior officers from the German Luftwaffe training department to Montpellier, France. The A400M is an Airbus Defense and Space designed & built, four-engine military transport aircraft that can transport many tonnes of equipment and troops.

The visit will be one of many by Luftwaffe personnel and officers as part of a seven-year contract, signed at the end of 2021 with the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology, in-Service Support of the Bundeswehr, for the initial training of German Air Force pilots.

Over two days officers will tour the Airways Aviation facilities and meet with senior CAE Defense & Security and Airways Aviation management and staff. They will also meet and liaise with the first cohort of Luftwaffe cadets whom have been successfully undertaking their initial flight phase training in Montpellier for the past few months.

Upon completion of the first flying phase of training by Airways Aviation Academy in Montpellier, cadets will continue their course with the advanced and final phases in Bremen, Germany, with CAE Defence & Security.

“This close Franco-German collaboration will, upon completion, allow Luftwaffe cadets to become officers and aviators of various types of military aircraft including the awesome Airbus A400M,” said Romy Hawatt, Airways Aviation Founder & Chairman.
