Modest Tree has been named a finalist in the 2023 CTMA Technology Competition for Tech Companion. Modest Tree’s Tech Companion technology is a digital solution for maintainers of complex equipment, which brings together digital work cards, created from technical manuals or a company’s procedural instructions; 3D procedural training of the procedures; and augmented-reality enabled remote support.
The Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) competition will be held at the CTMA Partners Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 6-8 June 2023, where the six finalists’ presentations will be ranked and scored by some of the Department of Defense (DoD)'s most senior maintenance and sustainment leaders.
Tech Companion was developed as a digital solution to connect technicians across the globe and facilitate the collection of core data, including task-level instructions, structured service reporting, and 3D visualizations to support maintenance tasks. Through its development, it was tested with Modest Tree’s partner RENK AG and has been used by the United States Space Force.
The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) holds the annual CTMA Technology Competition to provide an opportunity for both commercial and government sources to showcase innovative ways of making maintenance and sustainment operations more agile, effective, efficient, and affordable. The finalists were selected by Joint Technology Exchange Group Principals that represent each of the services, and the panel of judges selected the finalists for excellence in maintenance relevance or impact, originality and contribution to state-of-the-art solutions, technical maturity, cross-service applicability, and feasibility/practicality. The annual CTMA Partners Meeting promotes awareness of the latest Modeling & Simulation technologies and the CTMA Technology Competition will be overseen by senior DoD maintenance leaders.
CTMA is a DoD-wide program focused solely on maintenance improvements with the objective to ensure the readiness of warfighters and their equipment through the most up-to-date and best-maintained platforms, data and tools available. It provides a flexible contract vehicle and collaborative working model for manufacturers, research universities, DoD and other federal agencies to develop relationships and opportunities, drive cutting-edge R&D, and meet warfighter needs through the demonstration of new technologies prior to full deployment.
“It’s exciting to see this prestigious defense organization recognize our technology and the impact it can make on today's maintenance challenges and opportunities to modernize. We look forward to the next step in this program where we will present our Technology to some of the top leadership in U.S. defense maintenance and logistics,” said Emily Smits, CEO of Modest Tree.
