The 14th edition of the Indo-Russian bilateral naval exercise Indra, which is currently underway concludes on 2 April.

The exercise was conducted in two phases - Harbor phase from 28 to 30 March at Chennai, and Sea phase from 31 Mar to 02 April in the Bay of Bengal.

Senior officer of the Russian ship detachment, Captain First Rank Aleksey Antsiferov stressed that the drills would check if the ships of two countries are ready to accomplish missions together in the sea.

The Sea Phase will encompass advanced naval drills, including tactical manoeuvres, live weapon firings, anti-air operations, underway replenishment, helicopter cross-deck landings and exchange of sea-riders.

The Russian Pacific Fleet Naval Ships Pechanga and Rezkiy are participating in the exercises along with the and tanker Aldar Tsydenzhapov. The Indian naval ships in the exercise are Rana and Kuthar supported by a P-8I maritime patrol aircraft.

The INDRA exercise series has been underway since 2003.
