MASA has unveiled the launch of TARAN, a project developed in close collaboration with the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. This initiative is part of the newly launched Major Effect Program (PEM) Simulation. TARAN exemplifies the significant technological advancements MASA has made in recent years. The software will leverage MASA's proprietary DirectAI artificial intelligence technology, incorporating advanced decision-support modules, new behavioral models, and enhanced units with surface representations.
MASA currently equips 25 armies worldwide with its MASA SWORD simulation solution, primarily used for tactical staff training. In France, SWORD—branded as SOULT—trains thousands of officers annually and has been used in major exercises such as ORION 2023. The latest release of SWORD now features an advanced, licensed module for modeling detailed communications between units. This tool allows users to create and manage complex communication networks, simulate realistic transmission conditions based on terrain, weather, equipment, and operator skill, visualize network status, troubleshoot issues, and analyze network performance through new metrics and reporting features. MASA believes this module significantly increases the realism and complexity of the SWORD simulation, providing valuable insights into the critical role of communications in modern warfare.
Simultaneously, MASA is developing GEFORA, a software solution for armed forces management, which will be going live soon. MASA is also working on modules for connection to virtual simulations, thereby creating more realistic training environments. Ultimately, the integration of MASA’s simulation software, GEFORA, and command systems (C2) will enable real-time decision support, enhancing operational effectiveness.
“The development of this new software enhances MASA's offer for staff training. In time, all French officers, from second lieutenants to major generals, will be trained using MASA software,” said Marc de Fritsch, CEO, MASA Group.
MASA Group will be present at I/ITSEC 2024, being held now through 6 December in Orlando, Florida.
