Bugeye Technologies has partnered with Vertex Solutions to supply six simulated avionics panels and flight controls on the T-38 enhanced immersive training device (eITD) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) in Randolph, Texas. The scheduled project cycle from contract to delivery is less than three months.

This is the first time the Air Force’s “Fighter Bomber Fundamentals” syllabus will include a mixed reality cockpit. The change is intended to improve the Virtual Training for Air Dominance program with the U.S. Air Force’s Detachment 24 at JBSA and Columbus AFB. The use of mixed reality in the T-38 eITD aims to provide pilots with an enhanced sense of realism, resulting in more effective training as they interact with cockpit displays, buttons and switches while staying immersed in a virtual flying environment. Pilots repeat the practice maneuvers and training scenarios until they achieve mastery.
