The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) are readying to commence Exercise Falcon Strike 2024, which gets underway on 18 August.

This is the 7th edition of the annual joint air exercise series and PLAAF troops participating in the exercise have already arrived at the Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base (Udorn RTAFB) in Thailand.

The joint air exercises which conclude on 29 August, will feature the participation of several types of PLAAF aircraft including fighter jets, fighter bombers and helicopters. This year’s exercise will also feature the maiden participation of Chinese Special Forces units.

The previous edition of the exercises had featured PLAAF J-10Cs, JH-7As fighter bomber, J-11Bs and KJ-500 early warning aircraft, while the RTAF trained with its Saab JAS 39 Gripens, Alpha Jets and the Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft.
