The Spring phase of Exercise Panzer Strike, a bilateral armor training and live-firing exercise between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) has concluded.
Exercise Panzer Strike is conducted annually over two training windows in the Oberlausitz Military Training Area (OMTA), Germany. The OMTA, offers a large training space that is quarter of the size of Singapore.
Exercise Panzer Strike’s Spring and autumn training frames will involve 14 Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tanks (MBT), 14 Hunter Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV), and service personnel from 48 Singapore Armored Regiment (SAR) and Armor Training Institute.
Over the course of the exercises, which involved approximately 100 personnel from 1st Company, 48th Battalion (48 SAR) with their German Army counterparts from the Panzerlehrbataillon 93, a series of live-firings with the Leopard 2SG MBTs and the Hunter AFVs took place. Training was conducted with concurrent live-firing of up to four ranges for the armored units.
The bilateral exercise also included discussions on standard operating procedures, as well as tactics, techniques and procedures.
Exercise Panzer Strike first took place in 2009 and this year marks the 16th edition of the exercise series.
