ComplianceIQ is hosting Nurse to Nurse Bullying - A Sepsis in Healthcare - SHRM & HRCI Accredited, a 60-minute live webinar, on Tuesday, 23 July 2019, from 10:00 AM PDT to 1:00 PM EDT. This webinar explored the phenomena of nurse to nurse bullying, examining why it happens, who is the most likely target, and what hospital administration, nurse executives, and nurses themselves should do to prevent the abuse.

Nurse to nurse bullying threatens the safety and well-being of patients and nurses. The misconduct is a major problem to all nurses and causing 60 percent of new nurses to leave their first nursing position and one in three nurses to quit the profession. Sometimes the bullying is so subtle it is almost invisible yet it causes cumulative damage to the targeted nurse as well as those nurses who witness the behavior. The Joint Commission requires healthcare organizations seeking accreditation to address the misconduct. Yet, healthcare is notoriously known for not preventing the behavior or intervening when it occurs.

Areas covered in the session include discussions onmisconduct within the nursing practice, incorporating The Joint Commission'sDisruptive Behavior Standard, Nursing Social Policy Statement, Nursing Code ofEthics, and the Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice; defining bullying; listingthe steps to follow when bullying occurs; and to identify theories, causes andcontributing factors of bullying in nursing
