The implementation and expansion of telework programs during the pandemic is presenting new challenges for emergency response organizations around the world. Collaborative staff training is particularly difficult to accomplish in geographically distributed environments. ATS is launching a solution – equipping its staff training tool with web-based and real-time collaboration features.

“The importance of continued meaningful staff training in this environment cannot be understated,” said Jason Bewley, ATS president. “That’s why we wanted to address the collaboration gap, and we are pleased to announce ATS is launching a completely web-based, immersive, and collaborative version of our staff training tool, Fusion, to respond to the need.”

Fusion increases the effectiveness and cohesive response operations of personnel while validating plans and procedures in an immersive scenario-based training environment. The new features include a distributed exercise environment; web-based planning and training functions; real-time, web-based ESRI GIS mapping; video and voice conferencing; and virtual session break out and collaboration rooms.

The new capabilities complement Fusion’s original features, which include tailored hazard, threat and planning scenarios; decision-making and planning assumption assessment and validation; automated and flexible exercise injects aligned with training objectives and critical tasks; observation and after-action reports; and dynamic geospatial event and inject mapping.

“While the world assimilates to the immediate impacts of the pandemic, it’s important to remember that future disasters await,” said Bewley. “This new version of Fusion allows emergency responders to maintain their awareness, preparedness and readiness for whatever may come.”
