The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has introduced a new consensus standard, ANSI/ASSP A10.2-2025, for construction and demolition worker training. The standard aims to reduce hazards, illnesses, and fatalities through consistent safety practices. It covers various training types, including new hire orientation, site safety, and leadership training, with a focus on hazard communication and documentation.

ASSP states that voluntary standards like this provide essential guidance where federal regulations fall short. The organization created or revised 15 safety standards last year, involving 1,400 experts. OSHA offers industry-specific training, including 10-hour and 30-hour courses, to workers and supervisors. ASSP, founded after the Triangle Shirtwaist fire in 1911, continues to drive workplace safety improvements across the nation.
