Pekin Police Department in Pekin, Illinois, now offers its officers immersive training using three Axon Virtual Reality headsets, according to CI Proud.

This VR setup allows officers to experience realistic scenarios such as traffic stops and mental health calls, providing valuable practice without leaving the department. Police Chief Seth Ranney noted that the VR training helps develop de-escalation techniques and better prepares officers for real-world encounters, offering both an officer’s and a citizen’s perspective.
