Indian Railways will soon implement Virtual Reality (VR) technology for training workers maintaining Mumbai local trains. The system, currently being trialed at the Kurla Car Shed, will be fully rolled out next month.

The VR system provides detailed information on various train features, such as lights, seats, doors, and more, assisting workers in better understanding train maintenance and repairs.

The training module, set to be completed at the end of February, will make on-site repairs easier. The old barrack car shed is being revamped into a training center equipped with VR technology for classrooms of 40-60 trainees.

This comes shortly after Indian Railways celebrated the 100th anniversary of its first electric-powered local train, which started service in 1925.
