A new initiative is bringing clinical skills training to healthcare professionals in Uganda through virtual reality (VR) technology. The project, a collaboration between Goggleminds and the University of South Wales (USW), is funded by Innovate UK. Its primary aim is to address the challenges faced by Uganda's healthcare system, where there is a shortage of medical professionals, particularly in rural areas. The VR training tool, developed by Goggleminds under its "Mediverse" program, simulates real-life medical scenarios, focusing on pediatrics to provide healthcare workers with the skills needed for various medical situations without the need for physical patients.

This project will establish a VR training center in Uganda, designed to enhance local healthcare services and increase access to education. The partnership with USW allows the project to benefit from their expertise in mobile and emerging technologies. With Innovate UK's funding, the initiative is poised to improve healthcare capacity in Uganda and bridge gaps created by the lack of resources. By using VR, the project offers a cost-effective, scalable training solution that can be utilized in resource-limited settings, with plans to expand its impact over time.
