Rainer Hiltebrand, former COO of Swiss International Air Lines and head of the "New Groupwide Training Company" project has succeeded Florian Hamm as Chairman of the Board of Lufthansa Flight Training.

Rainer Hiltebrand completed his pilot training at the Schweizerische Luftverkehrsschule (SLS) in 1978. Afterwards, he worked as a pilot and also took on various management roles at Swissair - as an instructor, head flight instructor, and chief pilot - as well as being responsible for all flight operations between 2001 and 2002. From 2002 to 2010, Rainer Hiltebrand was a member of the management of Flughafen Zürich AG, where he was responsible for operations and airport management.

In May 2010, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer and member of the board of Swiss International Air Lines AG. In addition, he was a board and committee member of Aerosuisse (the Swiss Aviation and Aerospace confederation), president of the board of directors of Swiss European Air Lines AG, member of the supervisory board of Edelweiss AG, as well as president of the supervisory board of Swiss Aviation Training AG.

Until the new Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH is founded in the fourth quarter of 2016, Rainer Hiltebrand will be taking over the role of Chairman of the Board of Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH in Frankfurt.
