Airways Aviation is bringing its global scholarship programme, 'Career of your life', to Australia.

Prospective candidates could win a bursary of $AU35,000 towards the cost of an AV150215 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) at Airways Aviation’s training facilities on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Following an initial online application, Airways Aviation will invite candidates whose application meets their preliminary selection criteria to its Gold Coast Academy or Brisbane CREW Assessment Centre to take the industry-standard COMPASS test.

Once the test results are reviewed, top-scoring candidates will be invited to continue the process, with a presentation and panel interview in Brisbane as the final stage.

Leo O’Reilly, General Manager of Airways Aviation Australia, explained, “We fully understand that for many, financial constraints can make it difficult to follow a career as a pilot and are therefore delighted to be offering this opportunity in Australia.

“We encourage all interested applicants to attend one of our Open Days, taking place at both our Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Academies on 23 September and 7 October respectively. There they will be able to meet our world-class course instructors and get a taste of what it would be like to learn to how to fly in the most idyllic locations available.”

Tony Powell, Airways Aviation Australia's Chief Flying Instructor, continued, “The course has been carefully designed alongside industry professionals to ensure that our graduates leave fully equipped with the skills, knowledge and qualifications required for a prosperous career as an airline pilot.

“You will be hard-pressed to find a more ideal setting in terms of good weather and picturesque surroundings. In my opinion, it is one of best environments in Australia for student pilots in this vital initial training phase.”

The deadline for applications is 31 October 2017, with the winner due to be announced on 9 December 2017. The scholarship winner will then start their course with Airways Aviation Australia's 9 January 2018 intake.

At this stage, the scholarship is only available to Australian citizens and permanent residents.
