Fabian Riesen, founder and CEO of Loft Dynamics, will join the speaker lineup at the World Aviation Training Summit (WATS) 2025 to discuss advances in virtual reality flight simulation training.
Under his leadership, Loft Dynamics has developed VR flight simulation training devices (FSTDs) that have achieved both Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval.
Riesen's background combines extensive technical expertise with practical aviation experience. Prior to establishing Loft Dynamics, he served as an engineering technical leader at Cisco Systems for over two decades.
His initial foray into VR flight simulation began as a personal project in 2014, which has since evolved into a company serving major clients including Airbus Helicopters, the Los Angeles Police Department, Air Zermatt, and Helitrans Norway.
At WATS 2025, Riesen will present "Faster, Safer Pilots: Redefining Airline Training," focusing on Loft Dynamics' expansion into airline sector training.
Building on the foundation of their EASA-qualified Airbus H125 VR simulator, the company has developed new training solutions aimed at addressing availability and accessibility challenges in airline pilot training.
Register for WATS 2025The company's approach integrates VR technology, connectivity solutions, and AI-driven instruction to enhance training delivery. This technological framework aims to provide more flexible access to high-quality FSTD training whilst maintaining rigorous standards.
Riesen, who holds a private pilot's licence for fixed-wing aircraft and is currently pursuing his helicopter licence, brings practical aviation experience to his role. His presentation at WATS 2025 will examine how VR simulation technology might contribute to meeting the aviation industry's evolving training requirements.
