AECOM announced that URS Federal Services completed the transition phase for the 16-year contract for the US Air Force for range support systems.

Transition work on the $3.6 billion contract was completed on October 24, 2017, after a protest of the award delayed the start.

“As a proven leader in the range services market, we look forward to continuing and strengthening our partnership with the U.S. Air Force to provide mission-critical support,” said John Vollmer, AECOM’s group president, Management Services.

The company will provide critical mission and target management support for testing, tactics development, advanced training, and support Air Force and Joint operational needs missions at multiple locations in Nevada and California, including the Nevada Test and Training Range, Leach Lake Training Range and Nellis and Creech Air Force Base.

Vollmer said this work comes after two years of investment into AECOM’s Management Services business. This contract will support the company’s backlog growth in fiscal 2017.

“As a result of our expanded capabilities and focused business development efforts, we continue to pursue a sizable pipeline of pursuits, including larger projects and prime contracting roles,” Vollmer said.
