There are just three weeks to go before the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) closes the defence simulation and training focus areas of its Open Call for Innovation, having already funded a number of successful proposals. The closing date to submit an innovation idea to these focus areas is 7 March 2019.

DASA, part of the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MOD), hascommitted around £400,000 so far to innovation in the areas of training andeducation efficiency and effectiveness challenge, and the modelling andsimulation representation of the future operating environment.

In the defence sector, focus areas include credible methodsto improve training and education efficiency and effectiveness are beingsought, as well as modelling and simulation representation of the futureoperating environment (representing complex and rapidly changing environmentsto support delivery of training and education for service personnel); areas ofinterest include future systems and concepts and autonomous systems.

In the civil aviation sector, focus areas include suspectedthreats to passengers during airport screening and matching passengers withtheir x-ray trays.
