The USNS Mercy, a military sealift command hospital ship, welcomed 30 students from Coronado High School at Naval Station San Diego. These students, comprising members of the school's U.S. Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC), the Health Occupation Student Association Club (HOSA), and those studying Sports Medicine and Biomedical Innovation, received a briefing from Navy recruiters on scholarship opportunities and careers in the Navy, reports DVIDS.

Following the briefing, the students were given a tour of the ship by Mercy's Medical Treatment team. Captain Micah Murphy, commander of Military Sealift Command Pacific, also participated, sharing his personal journey as an officer who received his undergraduate degree through a Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship. Additionally, Murphy recently hosted 10 Maritime school cadets for an informal discussion about future opportunities with MSC as part of the "Coffee with the Commodore" event. These initiatives align with MSCPAC's support of the Navy's "Every Sailor is a Recruiter" campaign and MSC's recruitment efforts aimed at increasing awareness about Navy opportunities and connecting recruiters with motivated individuals interested in serving their nation.
