I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF), part of the US Marine Corps, is conducting a series of exercises throughout Southeast Asia to enhance its capabilities and reaffirm its commitment to the Indo-Pacific, according to DVIDS.

The campaign began with Exercise Balikatan in the Philippines from April 22 to May 10, where over 2,500 I MEF Marines trained alongside the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the joint force. These exercises, including Balikatan in the Philippines and Archipelagic Coastal Defense Continuum, involve joint training with allied nations, focusing on interoperability and readiness for future contingencies. Activities range from humanitarian assistance and medical outreach to high-intensity maritime warfare simulations, showcasing I MEF's versatility. This forward presence strengthens alliances, promotes regional security, and supports the Marine Corps’ strategic interests in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.
