The French Air and Space Force and the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) recently carried out a joint flight, testing their interoperability together as part of the overarching Pacific Skies, a series of global exercises.

A single RNZAF C-130 Hercules took off from Ohakea Air Base in New Zealand along with three French A400Ms.

The transport training flight allowed both air forces to develop their interoperability in flight, while operating the A400M and the C-130H and showcased their ability to operate together in the South Pacific should the need arise.

French, Spanish and German aircraft are also presently deployed in the region as part of the baseline, tri-nation Pacific Skies deployment.

Earlier, two Rafales, two A330 MRTTs, and an A400M with a detachment of over 200 airmen from the French Air and Space Force had arrived at Clark Air Base in the Philippines as part of the “stopovers and air diplomacy” phase of the Pacific Skies mission.
