The Center for Army Analysis has awarded two prestigious Modeling & Simulation (M&S) honors to the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC). The awards recognize the value of advanced digital modeling and simulation technologies in product development, highlighting innovations in both the Acquisition and Experimentation categories.
“The importance of Modeling, Simulation and Prototyping in the Army cannot be overstated,” said Jeffrey Jaster, GVSC deputy executive director for Modeling, Simulation, and Prototyping. “We leverage advanced tools and technologies across the lifecycle of a ground vehicle capability’s development, integration, and assessment to get a better product to the warfighter faster and more cost-efficiently.” he said.
For the Acquisition award, three GVSC teams— Advanced Concepts, Immersive Simulation, and the Detroit Arsenal Prototype Integration Facility (DTA PIF)—developed a new capability to visualize and support Soldier Centric Design with immersive computer-aided design (CAD) model exploration. GVSC teams developed the eXtended Reality Immersive Design Exploration (xRIDE) system, which uses immersive CAD models to help visualize military vehicle designs before creating prototypes. This allows real-time feedback and helps refine designs more quickly.
The Experimentation award recognized GVSC's development of ProjectGL, a simulation environment with modular architecture. The software supports diverse simulation needs, including testing autonomous systems, long-range precision fires, and human-machine integration. It streamlines development, reducing the time and costs associated with future military programs.
