GlobalSim has completed a major upgrade to three simulators for the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) based in Montréal, Québec, Canada.

MEA has used GlobalSim simulators for many years to train operators on various cranes including Ship-to-Shore cranes, RTG cranes, Ship Pedestal Cranes and Mobile Harbour cranes.

The Full Cabin system that was upgraded is located at MEA’s Harbour Training Centre in Montréal. The mid-sized simulators provide training in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada.

“They’ve had multiple simulators, including a Full Cabin system and one mid-sized simulator that were installed over a decade ago and a new essential in 2023,” GlobalSim Vice President Brad Ball. “These systems were becoming obsolete, but they have now been fully upgraded by GlobalSim. All of them have new hardware and the latest software technology (including VR integration). It was a very significant upgrade – these simulators are once again as good as new.”

“The upgraded systems and new VR integration to our simulators were beneficial to our training needs and helps us showcase our expertise to our different partners. We can also move the mid-sized simulators to career fairs, which helps us with recruitment,“ says Anick Fortier, Director, Workforce Training at the MEA.
