Lake Region State College (LRSC) has signed an official agreement with CAE which will see the company provide internships for students studying to be simulator technicians.
CAE has become one of LRSC’s Platinum partners, which collaborate with the college to optimise student learning, working closely with faculty and college leadership regarding its curriculum and real-world training experiences.
As such, the partnership will offer LRSC students on the Simulation Technology programme an eight-week long internship opportunity at the newly opened CAE training centre in Minneapolis.
During the internship, students on the Simulation Technology programme will be prepared for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electronic and mechanical components of simulators used in pilot training, entertainment and other applications.
They will learn to use specialised tools, test equipment, built-in diagnostic equipment and technical data to isolate and locate faulty components or system malfunctions.
“We are happy to develop the next generation and onboard future talent by exposing them to our technology and services,” declared Brian Darvell, Centre Leader for the CAE Minneapolis, Charlotte and Miami Training Centers. “These new simulator technicians help fill vital roles within CAE’s ever-expanding pilot training business and have many career paths available in our global network of training centres.”
“This is a great partnership for LRSC and students on the Simulation Technology programme,” said Dr. Doug Darling, President of Lake Region State College. “We hope that additional opportunities develop for LRSC students at CAE, whether it is enhanced internships, exposure to other simulation lab environments or more.”
