CAE has sold five full flight simulators (FFSs) – three Boeing 777X and two Boeing 737MAX – and two flight training devices (FTDs) – one Boeing 777X and one Boeing 737MAX to Qatar Airways. CAE says the order includes the world’s second airline-operated Boeing 777X FFS.
The CAE7000XR Series FFSs and CAE 500XR FTDs will be delivered at Qatar Airways’ training centre in Doha, Qatar, beginning in 2019. CAE also extended its training centre operations services, to operate and maintain the training equipment suite for the airline for the next 15 years.
“The future of aviation and demand for pilot training in the Middle East is on the rise,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions. He said this new training equipment agreement will provide Qatar Airways with the most comprehensive training solutions – and the company looks forward to supporting the airline with the entry of the new 777X aircraft into service.
