L3-expands-flight-training-to-new-Cranfield-Airport-site

L3 Commercial Aviation is expanding its U.K. Airline Academyoperations with a new site at Cranfield Airport set to open in July 2019. Thelocation will help to increase L3’s flight training capacity for cadets acrossits European training programs.

“With its existing infrastructure, heritage in aviation andstrong network with the industry, we believe that Cranfield represents anattractive location to expand our U.K. training capacity,” said Geoff vanKlaveren, vice president of L3 Airline Academy.

By the end of 2019, L3 will operate more than 12 aircraft atCranfield Airport, providing training capacity for more than 50 cadets. Thisrepresents another significant investment from L3 in the U.K. By the end of theyear, the site will have created over 27 dedicated permanent jobs within thelocal economy.

Cranfield University is the only university in Europe withits own airport and runway. Its students and researchers work with some of theworld’s top aerospace companies on advanced technologies and innovations. L3’spresence at the site will provide opportunities for future collaborations withthe university on next-generation products and technologies.
