Defence Ministers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a Multinational Special Aviation Program. Under the agreement, a new aviation-training center will be established in Zadar, Croatia to train aircrews that will conduct the insertion and extraction of Special Operations Forces.
NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, Rose Gottemoeller says the arrangement is part of an innovative approach that NATO allies and partners are taking to enhance their collective defense capabilities.
The aviation program will be established gradually, and will expand its training opportunities over time. The training center is expected to open by the end of 2019 with the goal of contributing to NATO’s adaptability and readiness.
