Lt. Gen. David H. Berger, commanding general, U.S. MarineCorps Combat Development Command and deputy commandant for Combat Developmentand Integration, was confirmed by the Senate for his fourth star to the rank ofgeneral, and as the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) June 5.
Berger will replace Gen. Robert B. Neller, who has served ascommandant since August 2015. The change of office ceremony will be held inJuly at Marine Barracks, Washington.
Berger, 59, hails from Woodbine, Maryland. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering from Tulane University in 1981. Berger also holds a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a M.S. in Military Studies.
