Indra will provide the French Air Force under contract with Airbus D&S with a state-of-the-art flight simulator that will offer training for the pilots of the A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) refueling aircraft.

The simulator has a level D certification, the highestcategory for a system of this kind to EASA standards.

This is a solution that integrates the training of pilotsand officers in charge of carrying out refueling operations, either via boom orprobe-and-drogue – the two possible methods. The system replicates all kinds ofpossible tactical scenarios and operations. It also replicates communicationswith control centers. The cabin is an exact replica of the aircraft, equippedwith the same instruments and with some of the most advanced visual systemsavailable.

The coordination of the entire crew to safely complete thiscomplex operation requires exhaustive training. Aircraft can also play a keyrole in other types of missions, such as the evacuation of the wounded or thetransport of personnel.

Last year, Indra delivered a simulator for this sameaircraft model to train pilots from all over the world at Seville, Spain. Indrahas also developed trainers for this aircraft, which are currently inoperation.
