Real-Time Innovations (RTI), Sunnyvale, California, an Industrial Internet ofThings (IIoT) connectivity company, has been awarded two Small BusinessInnovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contracts to utilize real-time datafiltering and semantic compression to improve the efficiency and effectivenessof U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) modeling and simulation (M&S) systems.
M&Ssystems can generate hundreds of terabytes of simulation data that need to betransmitted and analyzed. This is important for autonomous vehicle andaerospace and defense systems. For the first SBIR Phase IIinitiative, RTI will deploy its software in part with Boon Logic’s embeddedartificial intelligence (AI) machine-based learning technology to intelligentlyfilter through simulation data in real-time. This will result in a higherquality of the captured data, capturing critical moments before and after everyincident in high resolution, while down-sampling the rest. The implementationof real-time data filtering will reduce the amount of data the DoD needs tocollect and analyze, enabling these M&S systems to run more efficientlywith lower costs.
Thesecond SBIR Phase II contract will focus on enabling real-time,extensible compression to be applied to the data, reducing the amount of timeit takes for the data to move over a long-distance network. By leveraging thedata-centric design of DataDistribution Service, this advanced compressiontakes the structure and interrelationships of the data into account.
