At I/ITSEC 2019 in the Orlando, Florida, Orange County Convention Center from December 2 - 6, Moog Inc. will show its Gen 3 six-degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) motion base, which offers training professionals an energy-efficient platform for heavy payloads with a new modular design and more simplified maintenance.

Moog has spent years working with builders of simulators formilitary and commercial aircraft and vehicles to improve algorithms, ensurefidelity and refine feel so the experience is judged by military personnel andcommercial pilots to be as real as it gets. The Gen 3’s smaller motion cabinet translatesinto a reduced footprint within which the motion base sits. The new Gen 3motion base includes an optional feature set for training professionals toconfigure the platform to meet a variety of performance measures and budgets.

“Uptime is critical for training and simulation becausetrainees often have short windows within which to receive instruction and gaincertifications,” says Tobe Ehmann, business development manager for Simulationat Moog. “We’re ensuring uptime is maximized with the Gen 3 by includingimproved diagnostics so owners and operators can quickly identify not only aproblem but also the cause and location.”

Along with improved diagnostics, Moog has included guidedtroubleshooting for the Gen 3 that enables technicians to begin working onrepairs as soon as they become aware of an issue. I/ITSEC attendees can speakwith the engineering team behind this new design by visiting Moog Inc. in Booth#1021.
