The Indian Army is training together with the Japan Ground Self Defence Force (JGSDF) on Japanese soil for the first time.
The 4th Edition of the bilateral exercise ‘Dharma Guardian 22’ is now underway at the Aibano Maneuver Area in Shiga Prefecture. The two week long training exercises are focussed on counter-terrorism training with both sides working on tactics, techniques, and procedures and Military Operations on Urban Terrain(MOUT) training, in addition to live fire exercises.
“The scope of this exercise covers platoon level joint training on operations in jungle and semi urban/urban terrain,” an Indian army spokesperson said.
Troops of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army are participating in the exercises with the JGSDF.
