Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has recently opened a new simulation training center for Kamov Ka-32 helicopters in South Korea.
Inaugurated in October, the new Forest Aviation Training Center at Forest Aviation Headquarters located at Wonju, South Korea, can accommodate up to three Ka-32 simulators. The training center comes under the Forest Aviation Division of the Korea Forest Service.
In a KAI release, Kim Jin-guk, head of KAI’s M&S Research Department, said the Korea Forest Service’s Ka-32 simulator was a product of the concentration of cutting-edge simulator development technology that KAI has accumulated over the years.
The KAI developed Ka-32 simulator has obtained Level III certification and the project to build the new simulator training center got underway in November 2020.
The Korea Forest Service operates a total of 29 Ka-32s which are used to respond to forest disasters.
KAI had recently announced that it was expanding its simulator business to overseas models and ships and diversifying its business by building a training center.
Over the last 23 years, KAI has delivered a total of 63 simulators to 29 bases in seven countries globally.
