ST Engineering Antycip and Merlin Flight Simulation Group will host the IT FLIES UK 2025 Aircraft Design and Handling competition on 5th June 2025 at Swansea University. The event offers aerospace students the chance to present and test their aircraft designs using Merlin’s EXCALIBUR flight simulation software.

The competition includes two phases: a design presentation and a flight simulation test. Students will showcase their designs, followed by real-time performance evaluations in various flight scenarios. Teams without direct access to a simulator can use an offline editor to submit designs for testing on Antycip’s MP500-1 simulator.

IT FLIES UK 2025 offers students a unique opportunity to refine their skills and prepare for careers in the aerospace industry.

"The competition gives the students a great experience in show casing their aircraft and having their models put through their paces on the Merlin simulators by professional test pilots and then presenting them to a professional body of pilots and engineers,” said Michael Hendy, senior technician (Aerospace Engineering), at Swansea University.
