The EMS education staff at Blue River Career Programs is proud to offer students the opportunity to explore career possibilities in a college-level course for emergency medical services.

Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification provides students with a solid medical knowledge which allows students to build careers in fire and ambulance services or other careers in the rapidly expanding health care field, such as in a dialysis unit, hospital emergency rooms or even industrial settings.

Upon completion of the BRCP EMS education program, students have the opportunity to certify through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic level. This national certification is recognized in 43 states across the country.

Students who certify through the NREMT will automatically be certified through the Department of Homeland Security.

This level of training provides students with the opportunity to provide life saving interventions, such as cardio pulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, oxygen administration, placement of non-visualized airways, bandaging, splinting, emergency child birth, etc.

During the course, the students also become certified in the following: American Heart Association BLS CPR/AED; National Incident Management Systems; Hazardous Materials Awareness; Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness; SIDS Awareness; Autism Awareness; START Triage for mass casualty incidents; among others.
