EBSCO Health has expanded with the acquisition ofHealthDecision. HealthDecision is a clinical decision support and shared decision-makingtool for clinicians and patients at the point of care. The software platformprovides decision support tools enabling clinicians and patients to exploretheir medical options. The resource combines the patient’s healthcarepreferences with the clinician’s expertise and syndicates patient-specificmedical data with the latest medical guidelines to personalize a patient’s riskanalyses.
HealthDecision’s visual representation of medical outcomesis educational, easy-to-use and facilitates discussion between the clinicianand patient to mutually agree on a personalized treatment plan. HealthDecisiontools are developed by clinicians with subject-matter expertise, and themedical literature integration incorporates the latest guidelines, risk scoresand analyses. These tools have been integrated into the clinician workflow in avariety of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), and have been in use for nineyears, reaching more than 26,000 patients a year.
