The American Red Cross launched its new resuscitation education program that meets certification and licensing requirements for healthcare, EMS and other public safety professionals.
The program consists of Basic Life Support (BLS), AdvancedLife Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses thatleverage the latest learning technologies to surpass current available options.
Innovative learning methodology advances include:
“The Red Cross curriculum reduces instruction time,organizational costs and improves resuscitation outcomes,” said DavidMarkenson, MD, FACEP, FAAP, FCCM, FACHE, chair of the Red Cross ScientificAdvisory Council and First Aid Task Force member of the International LiaisonCommittee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). “The Red Cross is proud that this newcurriculum has been adopted by the Military Health System and Department ofDefense (DoD). To date, more than 9,000 of their instructors and 30,000students have been certified using the new curriculum. By year-end, we expectmore than 250,000 to be certified.”
The American Red Cross and HealthStream have signed along-term agreement to work together to improve resuscitation outcomes inhealthcare organizations. As part of this collaboration, the program provides afundamental element of HealthStream’s overall resuscitation solution forhospitals and healthcare professionals. The Red Cross Resuscitation Suiteprogram, which is now available on HealthStream’s platform, offerscertification to hospital-based healthcare professionals.
