VitalConnect Inc. introduced its Vista Solution 2.01at HIMSS19, ushering in the next generation of healthcare where specific healthoutcomes can be detected through National Early Warning Scores (NEWS). VistaSolution 2.0 will include the addition of weight scale, blood pressure andpulse oximetry via 3rd party devices, and core temperature1 to theexisting eight vital sign measurements monitored by the VitalPatch biosensor(single-lead EKG, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skintemperature, body posture, fall detection and activity [steps]). The companysays VitalPatch is the smallest and lightest Class II medical device clearedfor use in both hospital and post-discharge home settings.
Vista Solution 2.0 will bring intelligent risk reduction forpatients, regardless of the intensity of care, into the foreground. With theintegrated NEWS standard, Vista Solution 2.0 will advance a physician’s accessto information about a patient’s condition around the clock with clinicallyproven predictive analytics built in. NEWS is an internationally recognizedstandard used for initial assessments of acute illness and for continuousmonitoring of a patient’s well-being throughout treatment.
NEWS gives not only more data but also contextualinformation to help guide clinical decisions. By regularly recording NEWS, thetrends in clinical responses can be tracked to provide early warning ofpotential clinical deterioration and provide an actionable trigger forescalation of clinical care. NEWS implementation can be tailored for differentdisease states, helping to further individualize the monitoring and clinicaldecision making around each patient. Color-coded notifications provide bothvisual and numeric (0 to 20 scale) trigger levels to determine the urgency ofclinical response.
VitalConnect worked with various customers such as MercyHealth system, throughout the development of 2.0 to help ensure clinicians willbe provided with actionable insight from Vista Solution 2.0. The solution willbe implemented at customer sites later this month.
With Vista Solution 2.0, patient comfort and care are acentral focus. The VitalPatch is light, discrete and wireless, giving patientsthe freedom to move about, which can benefit their recovery, the company says.Additionally, the VitalPatch is water resistant and disposable. The VistaSolution 2.0 has a 5-day configuration that accommodates the average hospitalstay.
