American College of Nurses-Midwives (ACNM) announced an alliance with GE Healthcare to introduce to its members Vscan Extend, a handheld ultrasound technology from GE Healthcare, through educational webinars and training. This will expand access to innovative technology to certified nurse midwives and certified midwives where their licensing allows.

Vscan Extend from GE Healthcare is a handheld, pocket-sizedultrasound system that empowers users to make focused assessments andaccelerate treatment decisions at the point of care. New easily accessed appsare available and designed to help users diagnose confidently and improveproductivity easily. Vscan Extend also allows users to measure fluid levelsright at the bedside, assess the fetal position and presentation, and visualizethe fetal heart. With Color Doppler, the user can easily view the three-vesselumbilical cord.
