Dennis Luckey, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) whoserves as the medical officer for Station 1 in Watkinsville, Georgia, wasrecognized as the Medical First Responder of the Year for Oconee County duringthe 28th Annual Northeast Georgia EMS (Emergency Medical Services)Awards Banquet.
Approximately 250 EMS personnel and their families attendedthe banquet, which honors all EMS and medical first responders in the 10-countyservice area and recognizes them for their achievements.
Luckey, who has volunteered with Oconee County Fire Rescuesince 2015, has responded to hundreds of medical calls during all hours of theday and night. He has also volunteered to work numerous special events withinthe county.
Luckey has successfully completed training for Hazardous Materials Awareness, Medical Preparedness in Response to Bombing Incidents, and EMT. He also assists with the training programs and serves as a mentor for new medical responders.
