Concordia-University-Portland-to-Open-Nursing-Innovation-Center

In preparation of nurses to serve the increasing health careneeds of the Pacific Northwest and beyond, Concordia University-Portlandexpanded its nursing degree offerings and announced it will open a new NursingInnovation Center at its Columbia River Campus beginning Fall 2019.

The addition of an eastside Nursing Innovation Center atConcordia’s Columbia River Campus provides 41,000-square feet of additionalnursing clinical and classroom space, in addition to the 12,000-square footwestside Concordia Nursing Skills Center, which opened in Spring 2017.

“We now offer the full spectrum of options for anyoneconsidering nursing,” said Lisa Presnall, Concordia University-Portland’s associatedean of Nursing. “From pre-nursing, to an accelerated bachelor degrees innursing, to hybrid online and traditional programs, Concordia is meetingstudents where they are.”

In the past year, Oregon’s State Board of Nursing approvedsignificantly expanded capacity for Concordia’s Accelerated Bachelor of Sciencein Nursing (ABSN) program, supported by Orbis Education. Concordia’s recentnursing graduates passed the May 2018 NCLEX-RN nursing exam at a rate of 100percent. Concordia’s ABSN program fast tracks students who have completed theirgeneral education requirements and nursing pre-requisites into the nursingprofession. It delivers a high-quality, clinically intensive nursing educationin a short amount of time through a blend of online learning, practicalapplication in a simulation lab, and in-hospital clinical rotations at healthcarefacilities throughout the Portland area.
