Pocket Nurse recognized local colleges and universities during Healthcare Simulation Week from September 16-20, 2019, by delivering cookies to healthcare simulation labs in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

According to the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH),“Healthcare Simulation Week celebrates global professionals…who use simulationto improve the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery.”

“Simulation-based learning saves lives by improving patientoutcomes,” said President and Founder Anthony Battaglia, MS, BSN, RN. “Withoutsimulated learning, new doctors, nurses and allied health professionals cannotbe expected to deliver quality health care.”

Pocket Nurse visited several simulation labs in the regionincluding the Community College of Allegheny County; WISER at University ofPittsburgh; West Virginia Northern Community College; Franciscan University ofSteubenville; La Roche University and Carlow University.

“Simulation instruction isn’t easy,” said Pocket NurseCorporate Nurse Educator Beth Telesz. “Instructors need to know the coursematerials, use the technology effectively and record student progresssimultaneously.”

SSH encouraged participation in Healthcare Simulation Weekby providing materials and a schedule of events.
