VSTEP has made upgrades to two of its products, NAUTIS and Response Simulator (RS).
NAUTIS 3 maritime simulator users will soon receive an update to 3.7, the latest version of the simulation software. The update comes with new features, content, fixes, and refinements that enable its users to advance learning through the use of NAUTIS simulators.
One of the highlights of this NAUTIS 3.7 release is the new ocean model. The waves models and water visuals of this ocean are developed completely in-house and it is now possible to import and export wave fields and models to and from external sources. The new ocean model will enhance the visual and physical realism of the software, allowing NAUTIS users to practice true-to-life situations that may occur at sea even at a greater immersion.
Additionally, VSTEP has developed a data extraction tool that allows users to download ship dynamics data of a training exercise for postprocessing and debriefing. The data can be used for training validation, investigation or engineering purposes.
Response Simulator version 1.6 brings a varied range of new content, along with several new features and improvements including a major engine upgrade. RS 1.6 contains a significant content update, including several new European buildings, German and Swiss characters and vehicles, a football stadium, an underground car park, animals and more. The Industrial, Maritime and Aviation module also contain significant content upgrades. The new Engine Upgrade improves the software graphics. It provides a new lighting model giving a greater sense of visual detail and realism, thus providing a more immersive experience for RS users.

The upgrade also includes new triage parameters. The improved triage system is now equipped with new parameters for assessing the patient condition, allowing trainees to further examine extent of injuries. This feature is a key example of VSTEP’s close engagement with users who suggested this improvement and worked with the company to ensure it was implemented optimally.
