The XRWorMs project, of which ARSOFT is a member, is investigating advanced visualization techniques for machinery states, taking advantage of the benefits of XR technologies. With this research, ARSOFT hopes to help industrial companies improve both predictive and corrective maintenance of their machines. In addition, machine manufacturers will be able to have advanced control platforms to offer to their customers.
Last April, the Automotive Cluster of Castilla y León, FaCyL, presented the results of Phase I of the collaborative project XRWorMs (eXtendedRealityWorkers - Machines), which was promoted in recent months by ARSOFT and Industrias Maxi, two of the clusters’ partner companies.
The main objective of this first phase of the XRWorMs project had been the research, development and prototyping, at laboratory level, of a software tool that allows operators to control more easily an industrial plant, production line or individual machines, through a state identification system, using Mixed Reality (XR) technology to interconnect machines with people.
ARSOFT, a provider of XR technologies for the industrial sector, has been in charge of developing an Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) system that connects with IoT platforms to show operators, in a simple way, the health status of the machines they work with.
This system allows engineers to define critical states of each of the machines based on different IoT sensorized parameters and show these states in a virtual representation or Digital Twin of the different machines.
The XRWoRMs Phase I project has been co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the line of support grants for Innovative Business Groups, in its 2022 call, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
