Somero has collaborated with ForgeFX Simulations to develop a virtual training simulator for its S-22EZ Advanced Laser Screed, a machine commonly used for large-scale flooring projects. The VR-based system helps users build skills and confidence in a risk-free environment, addressing workforce challenges caused by labor shortages.

The simulator, built using Unity XR tools and ForgeFX’s engine, replicates real-world operations like screed calibration and laser setup. It runs on Meta Quest headsets, featuring tutorials, hand tracking, and real-time performance feedback. Multi-user support and cloud tracking allow remote training for operators worldwide. The simulator will also be used at the Somero Concrete Institute and offered through vocational programs.
